Fibrosarcoma











         Malignant tumour of fibroblast origin





         Male predominance


         Often in extremities and trunk of adults

         More common in post-irradiated areas and burn

            scars





         Usually presents as a painless slow-growing mass


         Appears as red-purplish nodule with a smooth
            surface if close to skin


         Fluctuance                  may         be        present            if    there          is
            intralesional haemorrhage


         May ulcerate





         Locally aggressive


         Propensity for lung and bone metastasis

         5 year survival ~50%





         Wide excision is the treatment of choice
