Associated Disorders
Congenital hemangioma
Fully grown at birth. It has two clinical
forms
RICH: Rapidly involuting congenital
hemangioma. It involutes and
disappears at the first year of age
NICH: Non-involuting congenital
hemangioma. It dose not involute or
respond to pharmacotherapy. Surgery
may be offered if complications
develop
Kaposifrom hemangioendothelioma / tufted
angioma
It is a locally aggressive tumour with a low
propensity to metastasis. It is usually > 5cm
in dimension. More than 50% is associated
with Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon.
Treatment options include corticosteroids
and surgery
Other associated disorders
Maffucci’s syndrome, von-Hippel-Lindau
syndrome, PHACE syndrome and epithelioid
hemangioma
